CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE

Creativity, Activity and Service is an 18 month program which all learners in IBDP and IB courses will complete.

Learners will have a wide range of opportunities within the Nexus and Global communities, to develop their skills and interests outside of the classroom. The program supports learners individual growth, communication, collaboration and risk taking skills. CAS enables their growth as global citizens, supporting their future university and employment applications.

Some examples of CAS experiences at Nexus include the Cambodia Service expedition, Junior Achievement, MUN, charity music concerts, Drama performances, running Hackclub CCA, Buddy reading with primary learners, whole school charity awareness campaigns, and these are only a few!

THEORY OF KNOWLEDGE (TOK)

TOK asks how do we know what we claim to know. It does this by encouraging learners to analyse knowledge claims and explore different areas of knowledge. It enables learners to become discerning knowers.

Learners are assessed in TOK with two pieces of coursework - an exhibition in Y12 and an essay in Y13.

THE EXTENDED ESSAY

The Extended Essay (EE) is a compulsory, externally assessed piece of independent research into a topic chosen by the student and presented as a formal piece of academic writing.

The extended essay is intended to promote high-level research and writing skills, intellectual discovery and creativity while engaging students in personal research. It prepares learners well for university. We also encourage learners to share their discoveries with the rest of the year group.
