GROUP 1 - LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

GROUP 2 - LANGUAGE ACQUISITION

Important Information about Language Acquisition choices

When considering language choices it is important to consider the level of language that has previously been studied. The IB Diploma course chosen must be appropriate and challenging for the learners.

Learners cannot take ab initio courses if they have significant experience in the language already - this includes already having a formal qualification in this language. They also cannot take either a language at 'B' level if their language level is too high. Language teachers will advise on this. These are IB requirements and it is essential that we apply them appropriately.

It is possible for learners to do two 'A' languages from Group 1 instead of a language acquisition course.
